What is PVSyst?

PVSyst is a downloadable solar design software that is used to estimate and optimize the power output of a solar power plant. PVSyst is an industrial standard as a solar design tool. As a software, it allows the user to simulate the energy output, detailed losses, analyze near shadings, carry out financial analysis, probability reports, horizon profile and generate many more outputs that help one in understanding the overall performance of a solar power plant.

Users of PVSyst can simulate the potential performance of a power plant, after specifying information such as the location, meteo data, components to be used, arrangement, budgets and so on.

The main results to be derived from PVSyst reports are the total energy production, performance ratio, specific energy and the gains/losses involved in the simulation. The final report produced from a PVSyst simulation plays a key role in the proposal to be submitted to potential clients and investors in order to understand the bankability of the project.

PVSyst as a solar design software is extremely feature-loaded and complex. In order to deliver the training effectively, Reo has created two separate curriculums – Solar PV Design and Energy Estimation with PVSyst and Advanced Understanding and Utility Scale Applications of PVSyst.

About Advanced PVSyst and Program Eligibility

The syllabus of this training program has been designed exclusively by Reo for solar professionals with an existing knowledge of PVSyst. This training program discusses solar design case studies from the start. Complex solar plants, advanced features and finer details of designing a utility scale grid connected solar project have been discussed in this training program.

To cope up with this solar design training program:

  • You must be a working professional in the solar industry or pursuing your Masters/PhD.
  • You must have an understanding of the essential functions of PVSyst i.e. losses, shadow analysis and analysing a report.
  • You must be capable of independently using PVSyst and simulating a plant.
  • Completing our online program on ‘Solar PV Design with PVSyst’ would be preferable.
  • Students pursuing their UG may contact the Support Team to understand their eligibility.

  • Towards the end of the program, there are progress tests, case study assessments and a detailed instructor feedback.

Mr. Shalve Mohile, your instructor for this online training course, is a solar design engineer with an experience of over 7 years in designing and building solar projects, with various system configurations including on-grid, off-grid and micro-grid solar energy systems.

He has deep practical expertise over PVSyst, Helioscope, Aurora and AutoCAD.  As a solar design consultant, he works with clients across India, Australia, the USA and Germany and is also an experienced trainer and an author in the field.
