What is this program about?

This solar energy training program focuses on understanding and applying the core concepts behind the engineering and design of battery based solar PV plants. 

This online training course is divided into 4 parts: 

1) Understanding the Key Fundamentals of Off Grid Solar PV Plants
In this part of the course, we will learn about analyzing the load profile at an hourly basis, understanding the daily variation of solar generation, and the dynamic interaction between solar generation and the load. 

2) Understanding Storage and Technicalities of a Battery:
This section is dedicated to learning about the various specifications of batteries and what they mean. We will also be learn how to read the battery specification sheets and what parameters are most important to a solar plant designer.

3) Sizing Your Battery Bank
Based on the concepts learnt in parts above, using case studies, we will make use of professional spreadsheet tools along with PVSyst/Helioscope reports to size up the battery bank and also look into designing that battery bank with off-the-shelf/commercially available components, with illustrations using LG Chem, Tesla, Emerson Liebert, BYD, etc.

4) Other Applications And Technology Comparisons Between Various Types Of Batteries
This part shall focus on topics such as Self Consumption and Peak Shaving applications. We will have a look at the comparison between different battery technologies like Lead Acid and Lithium Ion. We will conclude the course by discussing hybrid solar PV systems and micro-grid solar PV plants.

    design off-grid solar PV plants of upto 100kW
  • Independently design Off-Grid Systems, using commercially available BOS components
  • Understanding technologies and applications such as Hybrid Solar Plants, Micro-Grid Solar Installations, Lithium-Ion Batteries and others
  • Receive a Certificate of Completion on successfully clearing the course

Program Eligibility

This solar training program is ideal for you if:

  • You are aware of the basics of solar power operation and generation. We will not be touching upon basics of solar sizing, azimuth, tilt, module selection and so on. We have covered these topics in depth in our PVSyst course.
  • You are aware of how to use PVSyst, Helioscope or any other solar PV design software.
  • You are aware of terms like kW, kWh, Peak Load and Time of Use.

  • After registering for the course by making an online payment, your access to the course content will be shared with you within 30 minutes.
  • You will then be able to learn from the online course videos 24*7, and have your doubts cleared on your dashboard by the instructor, for a period of 3 months. There are no Live/webinar sessions.
  • To support the videos, there are downloadable files, Excel calculators, international case studies and bonus lessons.
  • Towards the end of the program, there are progress tests, case study assessments and a personal feedback from the feedback.
  • A Certificate of Completion is shared with the trainees who successfully clear our program.
